How to write a room-by-room packing request
Turn a packing request into a clear room list, materials plan and priorities for the final evening and first night in your new home.
Start with the rooms, then describe the work
A packing request becomes useful when it explains the work inside each room. Walk through the home and give each space a name that will still make sense at the destination. Note whether a room is already boxed, partly packed or untouched. List cupboards, fitted storage, basement contents and items outside the main living rooms so they do not disappear from the plan.
For each room, say whether you want everything packed or only selected contents. A kitchen full of fragile dishes is different from a bedroom where clothing is already in cartons. Photos give the team a sense of quantity, but a brief description of the task is still important.
Separate packing materials from packing labor
Tell the team whether cartons, wrapping and tape are already available. Describe unusual or fragile objects separately instead of placing them in a general box count. Approximate dimensions and clear photos help start the conversation about handling and materials.
Do not promise yourself that a delicate object will fit in whatever carton happens to be left. Ask about the packing approach during review, and keep valuable documents, medication and daily-use personal items with you. If an item requires specialist handling, make that question explicit before booking.
Give the final day a smaller list
Choose what can be packed early and what the home still needs to function. A small daily-use kitchen kit, toiletries, chargers and a change of clothes make the final evening easier. Keep that group visibly separate from the work planned for the crew.
A late-stage packing list should be short enough to check without opening every cupboard again. Confirm the rooms that remain and who will make decisions when the work begins. If circumstances change, update the scope before the team arrives.
Label for the destination
Use destination rooms on cartons and furniture labels. Mark the first-night boxes clearly and give fragile cartons an appropriate note without relying on a label to solve inadequate packing. If unpacking is included, describe the rooms to tackle first and whether you need contents placed or simply unboxed.
A useful request is a shared plan, not a guess at an exact final price. Send the room list with your addresses, access notes and preferred timing so the team can review the full scope.
Turn the plan into your request
Review moving, packing and unpacking, or explore your nearby town guide. A request starts the review; scope, pricing and availability are confirmed before booking.
